A daily evening occurrence that we all take for granted has a new meaning to me today.
I now look up to be reminded… that I too, should do the same.
Genesis 1:14- 18
In short account: God created the sun, moon, & stars. To rule over the day and over the night, and to divide the light from darkness. To let them be used for signs, seasons, days, & years. And God saw that it was good.
The sun and the moon are luminous objects in our sky. Though, the moon does not generate light on its own as it is naturally a dark planet.
Our moon reflects the suns light upon earth while it is blanketed in darkness. Defusing darkness by reflecting light to guide our way. here on Earth during a dark night.
As the moon reflects the sun onto a dark world shouldn’t we as Christians take upon ourselves the resemblance of the moon and also reflect the Son?
How will people that are aimlessly wandering around in darkness see Jesus if it were not for us shining Gods light daily?
God through His Holy Spirit empowers us if we are willing to separate light from darkness. I ask you, “Where would you be today if someone had not let their light shine and show you the way?”
Jesus taught through the parable of the lamp in Luke 8:16. He wants us to be a lamp shining light in a dark world.
In Luke 11:34-36 we read: The lamp of the body is the eye. Therefore, when your eye is good, your whole body also is full of light. But when your eye is bad, your body also is full of darkness. Therefore take heed that the light which is in you is not darkness. If then your whole body is full of light, having no part dark, the whole body will be full of light, as when the bright shining of a lamp gives you light.”
Just as the moon is naturally dark; Keep your mind’s eye focused on God. Ask God to light your path. Study His word as the word is a light source for your soul. You too, will resemble the moon and reflect The Son in a dark world and through the many seasons of people’s lives.
Fear not for light instantly dispels darkness. It’s naturally impossible for dark to dwell where there is light. Shine on Believers.
Tonight, as you view the moon that hangs prominently in your night sky. View it as a physical reminder that you are called to also… reflect The Son.
